Blue Distinction for Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery Seal.png

Hospitals earn Blue Distinction for Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery.

Both MidState Medical Center and The Hospital of Central Connecticut have been designated as Blue Distinction® Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery. MidState received a plus-level distinction for added cost efficiencies.

Blue Distinction® recognizes facilities that meet objective, evidence-based thresholds for clinical quality, developed in collaboration with expert physicians and medical organizations. The quality measures evaluated include risk-standardized complication rate following total hip and knee arthroplasty and 30-day all-cause readmission rate. The goal of this recognition is to help all Blue health plan members - and others - find quality specialty care on a consistent basis, while enabling and encouraging healthcare professionals to improve the overall quality and delivery of care nationwide. Studies indicate Blue Distinction Centers® have better overall outcomes and lower costs for certain procedures when compared to non-designated medical facilities.
